LAKE WINNIE FISHING REPORT

Hello from Big Winnie.

Walleye action has been the most consistent lately. The dawn and dusk bites are good 45 minute bite windows. The best depths have been 12 foot to 18 foot. The tops of the shore drops or main lake bars is where you will find that depth. Bigger minnows for keeper fish is the ticket. Rainbows , shiners or sucker minnows all work. Dead stick them. Work a gold jigging spoon to attract them . They will hit the dead stick.

Perch on the other hand have been spotty. One day we are getting them. The next day not. Shallow water in five to ten feet has worked a bit , then the next area is the 20 to 30 foot range. There is no set pattern on perch now.

Pike are biting well though. Five big suckers five feet off bottom in 12 to 18 feet. They are cruising around chowing down on shiner schools.

The ice we have from the south end of the lake up through the middle section of Bena bar and the east side shore drop up to Moxey hole is 16 to 21 inches. We have about a foot and a half of snow on the lake. As always check in at the resort you access from for up the minute ice conditions. See you on the lake. Pat
