Lake Winnie Ice Fishing Report for January 18, 2018
Hello, from Big Winni! Fish have been cooperating quite well this week. The perch bite has been very good, even in all the sunshine. Look to the shore drops from 8 to 12 feet till they move out, then go into the 15 to 18 foot range. The bait has been moving that distance daily. 10 am till 2 pm is the best time for good perch action. The main lake bars are also working well with depths of 15 to 24 feet being good spots to hit. Baits that work well are still small jigs and fatheads.
The Lake Winni walleye bite has been good also, with late-day action into dark, and for the next few hours. Fish from 16 to 20 feet at the top portion of most of the structure either the shore drops or humps and main lake bars. They are feeding on the tops of those structures. Fish biting on and off all night - keep the rattle reels down.
The northern pike bite is very good during the day. The main lake bars have been the best with tip-ups and big suckers fished 2 to 6 feet off bottom.
See you on the ice!
