Lake Winnie Ice Fishing Report for December 27, 2017

Big Winnie ice is getting better - MUCH better!! We now have a lot of 15 to 17-inch ice, in several locations. A couple of spots that froze last have 7 to 9 inches, but we are staying away right now and will, of course, direct you away from those dangerous locations. Now is the time to have lots of dialogue with the resort you use to access the ice - be sure to be safe!

Walleye bite has been good in the evenings till about 10:00 pm. There's a mixed bag for walleye size. Walleye are preferring a plain hook with a tail hooked minnow.

During the days, pike and perch fishing have been very good! Look to the first drop from 10 to 20 for the best action. Small jigs with a minnow works well. For great pike fishing, run bigger suckers three to five feet off bottom. On the snowy days, the walleye hit on-and-off all day long.

Check into a resort to get access direction sand maps of road areas. We are letting gas trucks out now. Soon big trucks will be out there.

See you on the ice!
